Adjusting Handicaps for Player Health

Setting Score History Age for a Single Player

If you have a player who has had a health issues, where their previous scores are not representative of their current ability, you can tell Golf League Tracker to ignore all scores before a certain date for only that player:

  • Go to the League Setup -> Step 2 Player List
  • Edit the player in question
  • Set the "Oldest Date For Handicap" box to an appropriate date. For example, if you don't want any scores to be included before Jan 1 of this year, then set it to Jan 1 of the current year

This won't automatically update handicaps. You must force a one time update:

  • Go to the Administration -> Weekly Admin -> Update Handicaps
  • Select "YES" for the "Clear Handicap for No Scores".
  • Click the blue "Calculate Player Handicaps" button.
  • Note: This will recalculate all players. If a player doesn't have any valid scores for handicapping in the system, their handicap will be cleared out if already set

Setting Score History Age for the Entire League

If you want to prevent older scores from counting for handicapping (such as for subs who don't play alot), then you can limit how many seasons Golf League Tracker will go back in a player's score history when calculating their handicap. This is done with setting #238 "Number of Most Recent Years to Use".

If you set this to "2", for example, it will go back a maximum of 2 years on January 1st when retrieving scores for the players.

This setting doesn't usually affect regular players who are playing consistently, because their older scores automatically roll off their score history as new scores are played, and the scores from 2 years ago are long gone as far as their score history goes.
